Residents,
The North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD), which supplies water to the Town of Little Elm—and, in turn, to Frisco West—has notified us of an issue that occurred during a scheduled maintenance operation earlier today.
During this work, a valve was inadvertently damaged in the closed position, significantly restricting the flow of water to both the Town of Little Elm (Frisco West's primary water source) and the Town of Prosper. NTMWD crews have been working throughout the day to reopen the valve and restore normal water flow, but those efforts have not yet been successful.
Because of this, Frisco West and Inframark are preparing to enter Stage 5 of our drought contingency plan. These restrictions are not yet in effect, but may become in effect if needed.
Stage 5 Drought Restrictions:
All requirements of Stages 1-4 are in effect, plus the following:
- Irrigation of landscaped areas prohibited. Foundations and trees may be watered for 2 hours per day with handheld hose, bucket, or drip irrigation / soaker hose.
- Vehicle washing prohibited except as necessary for health, sanitation, or safety reasons.
- The filling, refilling or adding water to swimming pools, wading pools, hot tubs, spas and ornamental ponds is prohibited.
- Non-essential internal water use by the District is prohibited.- Increase the rate surcharge on retail usage.
- Enforcement activities increased.
- Violations in this Stage 5 observed and documented by the System Manager shall incur penalties as follows:
o First-time violations will incur a $100.00 fine.
o Second-time violations will incur a $250.00 fine.
o Third-time violations and any subsequent violations will incur a $350.00 fine and disconnection of water pursuant to the District’s Rate Order.
- Unpaid assessed fines related to violations of water use restrictions shall incur late payment penalties and may result in termination of water service.
Full restrictions can be found on the Water RestrictionsWater Restrictions webpage.
Water may be limited during this time, and we encourage all residents to eliminate unnecessary usage.

We will continue to work with the Town of Little Elm and the NTRWD to determine when these restrictions may be lifted, or if any further restrictions are to be enacted.
The District will update residents via our Alert system, and we encourage all residents to Alertssign up for text and email alerts.
